This is  training material for all dance teachers.

Let's heighten the way Hip Hop is offered in class. In here, we emphasize art, education and the roots of hip hop to restructure class as a place of information, not just choreography. My work is intended to give tools to dance teachers that are in need of new information. By applying technique, terms, and dance history from the realm of street dance, my students get to plant their feet in proper foundation. It's about taking Hip Hop beyond "combo-of-the-week".

This material cover topics that can help teachers do the same. Information is given in a way that helps teachers build from any starting point.

  • Hip Hop, Breaking, Locking, Popping - Terminology, Technique, History,Modern Approach Vs. Foundational Style

  • Warm-ups & Across the Floor - What to focus on, how to build your own, purpose behind key exercises

  • Discipline - Approaching  student behavior in a style of movement that encourages students to be more wild ( Due to the freedom of movement, encouragement of self expression and frequent association with hip hop and their own social environment outside of class)

  • Structure - Utilizing class time effectively, a guide to the school year, games & exercises, educationfor each age group.

  • Creative Movement -  The basics of choreographing and freestyling. Keeping the "hip hop" in your movement when you create modern work and understanding the rules of  classic movement.

  • Specified objectives - Adapting movement and adjusting focus for boys only classes, special needs, beginners, college prep, auditions, & more.

Why Purchase a Curriculum?

Dance curriculum carries massive benefits. Here are a few:

1. Clear Learning Objectives: A curriculum defines specific goals for each level of learning, ensuring students progress in a logical and measurable way. Without it, training may lack focus or cohesion, which can hinder growth.

2. Consistency Across Classes: A curriculum provides a standardized approach, especially for larger programs or schools with multiple instructors. This consistency ensures that all students receive a well-rounded education regardless of their teacher.

3. Adaptability for Diverse Students: A well-designed curriculum can be adapted to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles, skill levels, and physical abilities, making dance more inclusive.

4. Teacher Development: A curriculum helps instructors by providing guidelines and resources. This is particularly helpful for newer teachers or those who may be experts in dance but not in pedagogy.

5. Building Foundational Skills: By following a curriculum, students develop strong foundational skills before advancing to more complex techniques. This reduces the risk of injury and ensures longevity in their dance careers.

6. Integration of History and Theory: A comprehensive curriculum can incorporate dance history, musicality, and cultural context, enriching students’ understanding beyond just movement.

7. Accountability and Evaluation: A curriculum allows for assessments that help track progress and identify areas for improvement. This is beneficial for both students and teachers.

8. Credibility and Professionalism: Offering a structured curriculum demonstrates that your teaching is intentional, thoughtful, and professional. It can attract parents and students who value an organized and effective learning environment.
